VICTORIA T. FERRARA - PRINCIPAL
A graduate of St. John’s University School of Law, Attorney Victoria T. Ferrara has been practicing law in Fairfield County for over 20 years. During that time, she has successfully handled jury trials for injury and contract cases, and has represented numerous clients who have been through divorce, legal separation and custody matters. She has mediated family matters and divorces and has been appointed as a Special Master to mediate cases for the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. She completed her undergraduate study at Fairfield University where she graduated with a B.A., Magna Cum Laude.
Attorney Ferrara has published articles in various periodicals and she has given presentations on family law, dissolution of marriage, child custody and parenting to the Connecticut Psychological Association. She has also litigated and settled numerous personal injury and accident cases in order to obtain the maximum compensation for injured clients. Early in her career she was an attorney at the law firm of Bai Pollock and Dunnigan where she practiced in the area of insurance defense thereby obtaining experience and knowledge of insurance company practices and operations. She has represented numerous corporate clients including GE ImageSpan, Inc., Flight Services Group, Inc., and Priority Mortgage Group, Inc., as well as many individual clients. Publications include: Submitting Charges to the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission, Greater Bridgeport Bar Association Newsletter (February, 2000); Disability and Estate Planning for the Terminally Ill, Connecticut Bar Association Estates and Probate Newsletter (1993); and, Preparing the Medical Expert for Deposition, Cardiac Accents, Volume 1, No. 2 (Fall, 1989).
In addition, she has served as president of the Mid-Fairfield AIDS Project; as a member of the Sacred Heart University Board of Regents; and as the Vice Chairman of Legal Affairs for the Westport/Weston Chamber of Commerce. Attorney Ferrara is currently on the Board of Directors for the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, she is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association as well as the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, and she is on the affiliate faculty at Sacred Heart University where she teaches business law.
JEREMY F. HAYDEN - PARTNER
Jeremy practices primarily in the areas of real estate, commercial litigation, personal injury, land use (zoning, wetlands), small business representation, landlord/tenant, corporate, family, and appellate law. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, the Fairfield County Bar Association, and the Connecticut Trial Lawyer's Association. He has been a speaker at several public interest seminars, including "Real Estate 101" for the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and "Teen Driving – Legal Updates" at Fairfield Warde High School. He has also been a speaker at various meetings with local contractors regarding Home Improvement Act compliance, and small business owners regarding legal issues surrounding customer engagement and collections issues. Jeremy also serves as the Chairman of the Inland Wetlands Commission for the Town of Monroe.
He has represented numerous clients in the purchases, sales, and financings of residential and commercial properties, businesses and other commercial transactional matters. He has also completed and successfully defended numerous foreclosures and has experience navigating the State foreclosure modification program. He consistently recovers damages on behalf of clients who have sustained personal injuries as a result of others’ negligence, and represents both secured and unsecured creditors and debtors in collections matters.
His other experience includes the following:
- Briefing, arguing and obtaining an Appellate Court reversal on behalf of a small business client, in which the Court held that a contractual provision purporting to be a liquidated damages clause was in effect an unenforceable penalty. 96 Conn. App. 14 (2006).
- Successfully commencing suit against a European Company in Denmark, using the International Hague Service Convention rules and the assistance of an international court and marshal, and subsequently leveraging a substantial settlement on behalf of his client, a California small business.
- Along with Attorney Ferrara, prepared the brief in the landmark Connecticut Supreme Court case, Raftopol vs. Ramey, 299 Conn. 681 (2011).
- The dissolution and winding down of a financially distressed liquor store business, requiring him to protect his client’s assets against claims by creditors, one of the key assets being a liquor permit.
- Negotiating a settlement with corporate client’s insurance carrier for property damage caused by water infiltration at client’s warehouse.
- Obtaining judgment for his client following a bench trial (in a ruling from the bench immediately after close of evidence) which included, in addition to actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest.
- Representation of a Fairfield County corporate client in connection with various corporate matters including stock purchase transaction and complex corporate restructuring.
Jeremy is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut and the United States District Court of Connecticut. He graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2005, where he served as Publications Editor for the Quinnipiac Law Review, and he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History, graduating cum laude from the University of Connecticut in 2000. He volunteers his time locally in the Town of Monroe where he resides with his family.
Kim Goodrich - Paralegal
Kim has worked for the Law Firm since August 2009. She handles all paralegal services for the firm, including in the following areas: Real estate closings; family matters; pre-birth orders; personal injury; adoptions; wills and probate; and, coordinates scheduling in all Connecticut Courts.
Kim brings to the firm 26 years of legal assistance and paralegal experience, serving clients throughout Connecticut.
She received her Associates in Science Degree from Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1986. She obtained her Paralegal Litigation Certification from the University of Connecticut in April, 2010.
Kim and her husband reside in Stratford, Connecticut.
Erica Azzarito – Paralegal
Erica joined the Firm in 2013, bringing with her over 12 years of experience in a wide range of legal matters, including personal injury, probate and real estate. Erica provides paralegal services primarily for the Firm’s litigation matters, including personal injury, commercial, foreclosure, and collections. She enjoys client interaction and handles all aspects of Firm scheduling and coordinating.
She has over 20 years of administrative, managerial and sales experience. She attended the University of Connecticut, and is active in her community as a Business Major Volunteer for the Shelton High School Quarterback Club, the Midi Club, and Boy Scouts of America. She enjoys photography and all types of sports, particularly bowling, and is a proud mom to two sons. She resides in Shelton with her family.
